Pipeline integrity is the by word operators involved in the transportation of fuels, natural gas or any other potentially hazardous or potentially polluting material. A massive effort is currently underway by all pipeline companies to comply with these integrity measures that include a variety of testing, visual inspection and internal corrosion monitoring with smart pigs, couponing and other methods to insure the structural integrity of these pipelines keep the pollutants out of the environment. This is a serious environmental stewardship issue we take seriously.
Other pipelines using corrosion protection means include water and sewer lines. These structures are subject to corrosion when they are in particularly corrosive soil, share a right of way with a high voltage power line or parallel and or cross other pipelines with cathodic protection. Any non hazardous line that comes near a line like the lines in the above paragraph should be carefully studied to insure that interference corrosion will not cause damage to these pipelines. Serious damage to a ductile iron or concrete reinforced waterline can occur if this is ignored.
